Destiny 2 has fixed its Guardian Games glitch where The Title SMG was not dropping…at all for about a day and a half there. Now, the SMG will drop from more or less any potential medal turn-in, with higher chances and more drops with Gold and Platinum medals. But it can drop from Bronze and Silvers too.
As you can see above, I’m done farming. I only had one Platinum medallion saved and a few Golds and Silvers and Bronzes, but I got a “close enough” roll that I was looking for, Stats for All/One for All, so now I’m going back to Elden Ring. However, if you’re less lucky than me, you will want to find a fast medal farm in order to get as many SMG drops as possible on turn-in. I believe once you hit the various tiers for medals and score and light the respective torches tomorrow, you can get fully masterworked ones or ones with multiple perk options, but at a certain point, the sheer volume of drops may be better than waiting around for those.
Here are the best options I’ve found for farming medals. Rick Kackis turned me on to a few of these, others I’ve just been doing on my own since this started.
The Training/Competitive Guardian Games Playlist – This is what you’re “supposed” to be farming anyway for the event, so not only are you setting scores that will be redeemable for prizes this weekend, you are getting medals through completion, and it’s just one run for one platinum medal. At the same time, you are also getting event achievements which you can claim in triumphs for Silver and Gold medals that can also be turned in. You’ll also be getting exotics, materials and Hothead drops at the same time while doing this.
Stacked Lost Sector Farming – I think people forget that you can actually run three people in a Legend/Master Lost Sector, since you don’t want to do that for exotic farming. But for this? You can steamroll a Lost Sector in a few minutes with a team and two of those will get you a Platinum medal every time. How fast this is depends on the day and what Lost Sector is up.
MORE FOR YOU
Dungeon/Raid Encounter Farming – Pick the literal shortest raid or dungeon encounter you can think of, and if you farm it three times, that’s a Platinum medal, plus a silver medal for each individual completion, which is better than the bronze a strike will give you.
Legendary Investigation Mission Checkpoint – If you get a checkpoint near the end of the Legendary Investigation mission in the campaign, you can rack yourself up enormous stacks of bronze and silver medallions by completing it incredibly quickly. There’s a part where after you kill the bosses, you have to go to talk to Fynch. But if you quit out there, that’s the checkpoint, and every time you talk to Fynch from there you’ll get a bronze and silver. This one is so good it may actually get patched.
That should be enough to get you started. Enjoy, and may you get the god roll you’re looking for.
